Konishi Brewing Company President Receives the “Crown Medal Commandor Le Chapter” from the Kingdom of Belgium

Konishi Brewing Company, makers of Shirayuki brand sake, President and CEO Shintaro Konishi was awarded the “Crown Medal Commandor Le Chapter” from the Kingdom of Belgium in recognition for he and his company’s extensive work promoting Belgian beer throughout Japan.

The “Crown Medal Commandor Le Chapter” is awarded by His Majesty the King of Belgium and is the highest order level of recognition decorating non-Belgian civilians.

Konishi Brewing Company has been making sake in the heart of Itami, arguably one of Japan’s most historically significant sake producing regions, since 1550, making it Japan’s oldest sake brewery to remain entirely in-the-family. This year marks the 30 years since Konishi Brewing Company began importing Belgian beer into Japan, an area where the company continues to lead, responsible for bringing many of Belgium’s most renowned, high-quality beer brands to what is now a massive market in the Pacific, thanks to their decades of passion and dedication.

Despite being rivals on the soccer field, it appears Belgian-Japanese relations are doing just fine—especially when beer and sake is involved.

Make Your Own Sparkling Wine or Sake with Revamped ”Drinkmate” Home Carbonator

Ever want to add a little sparkle to that wine or sake? i-Drink Products’ upgraded Drinkmate, the household carbonated beverage maker that has been available in the U.S. recently made its way to Japan in a new higher volume, more energy and cost-efficient model the end of June.
While commonly used for water and juices, this latest model makes new sparkling beverages a reality, including wine, and, you guessed it, sake.

The machine is a household carbonic acid soda generator that can produce 142 liters at about 25 yen (20 cents USD) per liter of carbonated water.

The product is on sale now across Japan, and available online for U.S. shoppers.
